May 13, 2007. I recently tried to read this book, and thought it would be a great chance to offer my insight. You see, I'm new to SOA, and being unfamiliar I thought this book would help. In the end, I could not keep reading it because it did nothing to explain simply what SOA was. I found the prose too difficult—and I hold a juris doctorate. However, I picked up another book Service Orient or Be Doomed?, which a co-worker (well-versed in SOA) said was a perfect introductory.
