01 January 2011 At the end of every year, or the beginning of a new year, there are all sorts of best-of posts. People discuss their New Year's Resolutions. Maybe I'm a little different. I set my resolutions in October, which is my birth month. But, I thought now was a good chance to touch base with where I'm going.
First, the first-draft copies of Scintilla arrived. I use Lulu Press to print/bind my early drafts. It costs about the same as it would at Kinko's, and the per-unit price is about the same if I printed it at home. At some point, I'll discuss my draft process at greater length. I will be handing what I call “Alpha Readers” on Tuesday to people who have shown a willingness to give a rough draft rough treatement.
Second, I'm still working on my content refresh and social marketing. It's an interesting foray, as marketing is essentially the same as it has been forever. I opine that the Social Network scene, encouraged by Facebook and Twitter, have merely amplified the power of referals. (Amazon started the trend, FB/Twitter make it easier and pervasive). So, I'll be working to improve my understanding of this.
Third, I'm working toward making Everyspace Society more useful. That will include providing more frequent content for that site.
Fourth, and most importantly, I'll start the draft on Imbroglio. I'm a bit wary of resuming this draft while Scintilla is still incubating. What mistakes might I have made in Scintilla that will have to be corrected again in Imbroglio? That sort of thing. I look at a section in Scintilla when it arrived on Thursday (yes, breaking a rule). It looked pretty good, so I'm not worried about major mistakes like that.
So, that's where I stand. Scintilla is progressing, Imbroglio is back in the starting block, and I'm working harder to communicate with you.
